Cariad Cottage Reviews

The heating didnt work, so we used a couple of heaters that they left had them on to warm your place up the bathroom was a disaster flooded all the time when you had a shower the hot tub wasnt emptied when we got there it was dirty leaves and that inside too much chlorine in the water which made your eyes sting when somebody got in it it could do with a lot of tender loving care to bring it up to a standard that it should be a lot of money for three nights .
I am a paraplegic and the facilities at the cottage were amazing, the wet room was great, they even supplied a shower chair. We will definitely return again next year if we're able to.
The carpets needed a good hoover and shampoo they were very dirty, also the shower was blocked and reported Saturday early morning and we had to buy drain cleaner and unblock ourselves on Monday as it had not been fixed. The owner did buy us a drink in his pub for our inconvenience although the taxis too and from his pub cost us 60, but a great pub Feathers Hotel overall a good base.
Had a lovely family holiday, 3 generations. We had several issues with the cottage, which the owners rectified some of them, in fact they couldnt do enough to make our stay welcoming. They were unaware of the issues, if people dont let the owners know of the problems how can they rectify them. Really good owners.

We had a lovely stay. The complimentary treats were a very nice welcome. When we asked for help with the log burner, we didn't wait long and soon enjoyed an open fire. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of space. The children enjoyed having their own TV in their room. They also liked the tree house and play area. Our daughter enjoyed her first time in a hot tub. We didn't use it after reading that it might be unsafe for diabetic people. It looked very inviting. The dishwasher was great and gave me a holiday from some usual chores. It was useful to have a washing machine too but the dryer doesn't work. There was a clothes horse to use but it took a long time to dry and I ended up finishing the drying at home. The shower in the wet room was very difficult to control and would go scalding hot with no warning. Turn the dial slightly for cooler water and it would be ice cold. The water escapes past the barrier on to the bathroom floor after a few minutes of use. We didn't use the dining table in the living room because one chair was broken and others felt too wobbly. It would be useful to have two sets of keys when a larger group book the property. The property was cleaned to a basic standard. There were no concerns about hygiene but a detailed clean when out of season might be worth considering. Overall it's a great property in a beautiful, peaceful area. The cottage felt homely and welcoming.
The property was fairly clean but there were foot long cobwebs in most of the rooms so obviously not cleaned fully. There was more than enough space for our 11 strong party but sadly the cooking facilities are woefully inadequate. Quiet setting, plenty of space for kids and dogs to enjoy.

We stayed here to celebrate my parents 30th anniversary, it was the first time all 10 of us had stayed together. There was plenty of room, enough seats and didnt feel like we were on top of each other. It wasnt perfect, there was a few marks, stains on the bed, rip in sofa, cobwebs etc but this didnt bother us, it actually put us at ease as we had kids. There were plenty of places to visit if you have a car. The kitchen was well equipped, it has a slow cooker and air fryer which was very handy. We brought a lot of essentials like Tea, cooking oil, cleaning stuff etc but there was stuff there ready for us to use. The only thing I would say is it could do with better frying pans, considering it hosts 11 people the two were very small and not in the best condition to use. The twin room was also quite small and probably suited better for young children as the ceiling is at a slope so easy to hit your head when in bed. Overall we had a lovely time.
Really lovely cottage, perfect for friends and well behaved dogs! Can see its quite well adapted for people who need it. The games room barn was a little run down IE no tips on the cues, and other things were ruined with the rain coming in quite bad. Fully equipped for cooking and plenty of room for multiple people. Wouldve been nice for the hot tub canopy to have a cover on it as the rain was really bad the entire stay.

We went to Cariad Cottage to celebrate my 40th bday as a break away from the kids. The house is well furnished and comfortable. The hot tub is great fun and the bed rooms are lovely. We had plenty of space and came home very happy. The chickens and dogs were very friendly not in an overwhelming way. and made us feel just as welcome as the owners. The welcome booklet was filled with all the info we needed plus lots of practical information about the local areas which really helped us. We would be very happy to stay there again.

Positive The house and grounds are accessible for wheelchair users, the beds were comfortable, its close to the seaside and the staff were friendly. Negatives The games room was a barn where birds could enter and there was bird droppings all over the pool table and other games tables. The hot tub was not accessible for a wheelchair user and the steps did not have a handrail making it challenging for users with poor balance and mobility. Worst of all the property run out of gas on Tuesday morning and was not refilled until Thursday morning, meaning 2 full days without heating, hot water and gas hoboven was unusable, we were told this was not the owners fault and were given a meal from the pub as compensation which in our opinion does not equate to 2 days without basic facilities.
Cobwebs and spiders in the corner of ceilings. Ripped settee and pouffee. Arrived and broken washing machine, not replaced until mid holiday. Z bed frame full of dust. Backdoor lock broken in fairness when we reported it they did offer to come over but we had had enough at this point.. Tumble dryer didnt work. Shed for rubbish was not maintained annd there was half opened bags of rubbish everywhere .Apart from that it was fine.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Cariad Cottage, hosts very friendly and welcoming without being intrusive. The cottage had everything you needed for a comfortable stay the hot tub and games room were a bonus . Beds lovely and comfortable and plenty of towels available. There were also lots of nice morning and evenings walks for the dogs. We enjoyed visiting New Quay, Aberaeron, Cardigan, Tresaith beach a lovely beach, Castell Henilys An Iron Age Village a worthwhile visit . The Moody Cow farm shop and cafe well worth a visit. Happy to recommend this cottage if you want to explore this part of Wales.
Amanda
The cottage comfortably housed our group of 5 adults and 2 dogs for the week. We had a lovely stay, only improved by the wonderful weather! Inside, everything you could possibly need has been included but the outside area is where this property really shines. The hot tub and bbq were utilised almost daily, and the lawns are a great place for a walk if you're lucky, the chickens will come over to see you. We can't wait to return next year!
Deborah
We had a great week in this cottage, in spite of storm Katherine trying to make our week a misery! The hot tub was enjoyed by all would have used more if it had a canopy to keep the rain off while in it given the weather we had during our stay. The games barn was good to have attached to the house. Bring your own darts as there weren't any during our stay. The beds were comfy and they provided plenty of towels for hot tub use. Having a tumble dryer was also a bonus. WiFi was sketchy, which was a bit of a problem for the kids. And although there's a smart TV, we couldn't use it because the WiFi wasn't strong enough. Overall it was a good stay and we all enjoyed ourselves..
Ten of us and two pooches enjoyed our stay at Cariad Cottage. The location is convenient for some lovely seaside visits and the setting allowed us a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cottage itself has all the amenities you need, including laundry area with washing machine and tumble dryer which is great for muddy clothes, swim suits and towels. The kitchen was well equipped so it felt like a home from home. Though the hot tub and games room were great additions, both need some maintenance. The pergola surrounding the hot tub could do with a paint and some additional lighting the intermittent flashing fairy lights were slightly jarring at night and us adults couldn't play pool and darts as intended because there was only one dart and no white ball for the table. The kids in the party made do anyway but it was a shame for us not to fully make use of that space. We were concerned that the hot tub wasn't maintained over our stay the water line was a bit grubby after a couple of uses owing to there being ten of us so we didn't use it on our last full day. General cleanliness was fine but there were some dusty, cobwebby corners and one of the upstairs bathroom bins was full on arrival, as well as some dirty plates in the cupboard presumably put straight away from the dishwasher without being checked over. Other maintenance issues include a loose tap on the upstairs bathroom sink and the downstairs en suite wet room could do with more effective waterproofing to prevent the water spilling out onto the bedroom floor. We were slightly disappointed that we didn't feel as welcomed as some of the reviews suggested we would. We only happened to bump into the owner when we were asked to move our car from the side of the house to allow their vehicles access. Our kids were also asked to take the owners' dogs back down the lane to their home we were confused by this as we understood that they would be roaming about. The kids then worried about interacting with them when they did see them which made us feel like a bit of a nuisance. We would recommend a stay at Cariad Cottage based on the beautiful location and the ability to stay with a large group, but some aspects did leave us slightly underwhelmed particularly after reading previous reviews.
Excellent place for families. Games room is a bit draughty.. Nice people . Great hot tub..
Catherine
Perfect mini break for family 70th birthday celebrations. Everything we could have hoped for and reasonably priced too! Lovely cottage in scenic location. Super well equipped cottage everything you could possibly need. We loved the hot tub and games room. Cooper our dog also loved his first holiday and trip to the beach New Quay, safe enclosed yard bonus too. Would highly recommend. We did not have any disabled guests but the property has really thought through downstairs bedroom and fully equipped disabled washroom have already recommend to some friends whose parents have mobility needs. Great hosts too will definitely be back!
Olivia
We had such a good time in the cottage. The hot tub was brilliant and there was loads of space for everyone. Everything was very clean and it was perfect for a family holiday.
More than enough room and facilities to make the stay very comfortable, made better by the hot tub and log burner. The owners live on site and are very helpful if there are any concerns during your stay. Beautiful nearby beaches and towns to visit.
Great wheelchair access with plenty of room to move around, felt spacious even though ten of us were staying. Great location, close to sea and mountains and the owners were friendly and helpful.
Lynnet
Beautiful property the pictures dont do the place justice. Got lost getting there but the host was very helpful finally found the place. The house was clean upon arrival and even though the host had informed me that they were away for the weekend there was a welcome pack which was very informative which made the stay a lot easy. Lovely games room the kids loved it couldnt stay out of it. The Jacuzzi wow is all I can say. Had a few plumbing issues which I told the host who immediately had them attended too even though there were not around. Overall the place is amazing and hoping to book again and come in summer I think we will enjoy it even more
Stevie
It was a truly incredible experience. I was a silly sod on arrival and ended up getting my car stuck and we went to ask the owners if they had any rope to pull me out and straight away they offered to pull out the car. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners and they offered a number of additional amenities if we needed. Visited with 7 friends for a nice quiet hen weekend and I honestly couldn't have asked for a more amazing place to stay.
Linsey
A wonderfully located cottage with beautiful surroundings. The owner, Ray, was very welcoming and friendly and left us a thoughtful arrival package which was lovely. There was also a very helpful information booklet about the house and the area. The cottage was very spacious with absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay. It was clean, fresh and lovingly decorated. The piano at the top of the stairs was a hit with the children. There is a private decked area out the back with a large hot tub, which was magically lit at night with the use of fairy lights. A definite added delight. The working development of the games room was an added bonus too, as the children spent lots of time on the pool table and pingpong table. There is a small outdoor play area that had a trampoline, swing and tree house that were all disable friendly, which was perfect for us, as we had disabled family members in our party. We had fresh eggs delivered to our cottage one morning from the chickens on site and the owners dogs were lovely, friendly and well behaved. They played with our dog whenever they were out, which was lovely to see. There were horses on the land to go and see and the lovely little lakes to walk around. The Fantasy Farm Park, which is only about 10 minutes drive, is an absolute must. It was very reasonably priced and we spent the whole day there. You can feed and pet the animals, go on a short nature walk, ride the rodeo, race the gocarts, peddle the boats and much more. The tractor ride around the field was brilliant. The supermarkets are about 25 minutes drive away, with Tesco, Morrisons, Home Bargains and Iceland in the same area, along with a few smaller ones. Some will actually deliver to the cottage. On the whole, the stay was absolutely way and above our expectations. Ray is an absolute credit as a host and all the party had an amazing stay. We will definitely be back again.

The place was lovely and well equiped the owner was nointrusive but available at all times if anything happens the only thing I would comment on is the bugs in the courtyard especially early evening I would recomment bring bug reppellant The working progress of the games room is great for the kids to mess about in as its a working progress it will get better as time goes on depending on usage etc A comment that is missing on the listing is the visits from birds of pray most eveningafternoon so great for any twichers out there

The property is in a beautiful spot ,the owners are very friendly ,we had a leak in the bedroom before we got their but was all sorted ,offered us the other property if we weren't happy ,once it became free on Sunday but we chose to stay where we were ,the only thing I would recommend is a few more rails in the disabled shower, and a bit of a deep clean throughout, and no welcome pack ,even just milk and tea etc to have a drink ,most places we stay at have left something ,but apart from that it was lovely
Would highly recommend! We had an amazing family holiday and made some wonderful memories. The teenagers really enjoyed the games room, it is a lovely addition to the cottage. There were plenty of nice walks for the dogs, a lovely grassy area for them to run around in and a very good enclosed decking spot. The younger kids and us adults! loved the hot tub and fire pit, plus the little park and tree house. We had a few maintenance issues which were resolved immediately by the owners. We would love to come back and stay in your beautiful cottage.
Carole
Absolutely brilliant much needed holiday, perfect hosts really enjoyed feeding carrots and apples to the horses, and we cooked some sausages for Barcus , Archie and of course little Ruby who was allowed a small portion they were so friendly I am missing them. The cottage had all you need for a perfect stay and anything else you only have to ask and they were there to help you. I would have liked the piano to be more accessible but it will need at least two strong people to get it down the stairs hopefully Ray can get they sorted for future guests. Thank you so much for your hospitality tea and burgers in your beautiful home.
Ray and Dawn were great When we broke down on the way Ray rescued us! Lovely people! Thank you!
Ray & Dawn are fantastic people so helpful and friendly they couldn't do anymore for us if they tried. We had a fantastic stay and will defo be going back next year. If a disabled person is looking for a lovely stay then this is it my daughter is in a wheelchair but does transfer herself, and everything was fully accessible for her. Thankyou for a fabulous stay xxx
Philip

Nice comfortable property with almost everything you need. Oven gloves and a mitt for the log burner would be useful other than the very small details great place Lovely friendly hosts had a nice Christmas stay with family the pool table in the outbuildings were a hit with the teenagers. Would have preferred the hot tub under shelter and slightly hotter. Overall really nice stay. Thank you.
Olivia
