Both myself, my partner and our two border collies recently stayed at Tan Y Castell and we had a wonderful week. The cottage suited us as it was set in a quiet location with amenities just 5 mins drive away. Martin was a fantastic host and very helpful both prior to our stay and during. We received a message a few days before with lots of useful information and Martin met us on arrival and showed us how everything worked. The property is lovely and the hot tub was fantastic especially after a day of walking. We would highly recommend and will definitely be back in the not too distant future.

We thought this was a very attractive, well maintained cottage, with possibly more equipment than you would normally need for a week's holiday. The setting was excellent for nature lovers. The owner, Martin, met us on arrival and showed us around and explained a few things and thank you for the welcome pack of bread, butter, milk, Welsh cakes and wine. Whilst we knew about the spiral staircase we did not realise how narrow the treads were. Each tread was only about 50cm wide making it quite awkward for carrying larger bags up to the bedrooms. In addition anyone over 6 feet tall might have problems with headroom. Being an old cottage most of the rooms we on different levels including a large step up in the kitchen which is not obvious from one direction, perhaps the use of some white paint might improve this aspect. A lot of the rooms had steps into them and out of them which needed care until you had got used to them.The cottage's setting was very peaceful and tranquil and for those who like remoteness like us, it is very remote! I appreciate that some of the above may sound a little critical but we had a very enjoyable holiday in a lovely area.
